Introducing Barbara Revel, Office Manager at HealthFirst
When did you start working for HealthFirst and what is your role?
I joined the HealthFirst team at the end of 2015 and can hardly believe that was nearly nine years ago. My current role involves a wide range of administrative activities, collaborating with clients and trainers to ensure we deliver the best training sessions possible. I work closely with our talented team of professionals to improve our offerings, ensuring we meet the needs of our clients and support our HealthFirst team members effectively.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
What I enjoy most about my job is the people I work with. They are truly inspiring, not just because of their incredible depth of knowledge and wealth of experience, but also because they are genuinely nice people. Working with such a dedicated team makes each day fulfilling. Their passion for the training we deliver and their commitment to expanding their knowledge and sharing experiences, drives me to perform better in supporting them all.
What do you do when you are not working?
When I am not working, I spend quality time with my family. Whether it’s enjoying time with my boys, out and about here in the beautiful area we live in, or simply relaxing at home and short trips to see the (very large) extended families in France, the UK and Ireland, being with my loved ones is my favourite way to unwind and recharge.
What is your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure is reading. I love getting lost in a good book and this was always my escape from the aforementioned large (and often noisy) family I grew up in. Reading allows me to escape into different worlds and I find I can always learn something about cultural influence, history, human psychology and so much more, even when reading a fluffy rom-com! I always have several books on the go at any one time, with an audio book for walking with the dog and my kindle always at hand as soon as I have a few minutes to spare in the day.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
The advice I would give to my younger self is to be braver and travel more. Although I did travel a lot throughout Europe when younger, particularly in previous jobs, I would tell myself to not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and explore even more of the world, take those chances, embrace the unknown, and make the most of every opportunity.
