Exciting news: HealthFirst joins the global effort to improve newborn care

11th December 2024

Infant mortality rates remain tragically high in many parts of the world. At HealthFirst, we’re committed to being part of the solution. In January 2025, six members of our team will undertake certification to become Facilitators for the Essential Newborn Care Course (ENCC), developed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in collaboration with the American Academy of Pediatrics.

This programme, updated in 2023, equips healthcare workers with practical, evidence-based skills in newborn care and healthy development. Through hands-on training and simulations, participants learn life-saving techniques, including newborn resuscitation during the critical ‘Golden Minute’.

Our team’s goal is to deliver this impactful training in low-resource settings, empowering healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills to improve outcomes for newborns.

Working on this project, we can help bridge care gaps, drive change, and move closer towards being able to give every baby the healthy start they deserve.

If you know anyone who would be interested in contributing to the funding of this not-for-profit project, please get in touch with Dr Michelle Wright, drmichellewright@healthfirst.ch.
