Nurse Cheryl Rooney-Ball

Cheryl was born in Geneva and started her nursing career by interning at HUG in Geneva. She continued training as a Paediatric Nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, working in the International Paediatric Ward with chronically sick children for two years after qualifying. Following that, Cheryl returned to Geneva joining the Paediatric Accident and Emergency departments in La Tour Hospital.

For over twenty years, Cheryl has been the sole Practice Nurse at the Petit Saconnex paediatric medical centre, working with six doctors and 17,000 patients.  As HealthFirst Senior Trainer she adds her unique bilingual knowledge of the Swiss medical system to her first aid training.

In her spare time, Cheryl enjoys swimming, skiing and line-dancing and is on hand to provide first aid for the Swiss Netball Association and international school sports events. She also volunteers at the Geneva Amateur Operatic Society as a committee member and helping with children’s choreography and ticket sales. Cheryl is also a group leader at La Gessienne Baton Twirling Club, Gex.
