2 day Level 1 First Aid Training
Course details
This 2 day training is similar to the previous “RESQ Level 1” workplace First Aid training. It includes the Swiss Resuscitation Council certification in Basic Life Support and Automated External Defibrillation (BLS-AED-SRC Generic Provider) and training in Basic First Aid Skills.
Day one
Emergency Protocols
Legal obligations around first aid provision in Switzerland
Medical emergencies: a protocol to follow
Evaluation of the situation and calling for emergency assistance
Personal safety and security
Basic Life Support
Recognising cardiac arrest and understanding common causes
Giving Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to babies, children, and adults with practise using realistic manikins
Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Other Life-threatening Situations
Putting an unconscious baby, child, or adult who is breathing into the ‘Recovery Position’
How to help someone having a seizure
Heart attack and stroke: risk factors, prevention, symptoms, and signs and what to do
First aid for a choking baby, child, or adult
What to do in the case of drowning
Day two
Head injuries and suspected spinal injuries
Major blood loss and shock
Burns, asthma attacks and accidental poisoning
Sprains and broken bones
Basic wound care and nosebleeds
What to have in your first aid kit and how to use it
Heatstroke and hypothermia
Psychological first aid after a traumatic event
Self-care after attending a medical emergency
Techniques for correct helmet removal
Participants will then use their newly acquired skills during realistic group scenarios. Their knowledge gained will also be examined during a written test.
Course certification:
Swiss Resuscitation Council certificate BLS-AED-SRC Generic Provider (valid for 2 years)
