Dr Penny and Dr Michelle have just returned from an excellent First Aid training session for the teachers and staff of the International School of Monts-de-Corsier.
They were talking about how to deal with the common illnesses and injuries that the staff are likely to come across as they care for the pupils – grazes, burns, cuts, allergies.
The course participants were also able to ask questions and share experiences of the first aid situations they have helped with, whilst learning the latest up-to-date evidence based techniques as recommended by the Swiss Resuscitation Council and American Heart Association.
Later, they were practising how to perform CPR and the Heimlich manoeuvre on Laerdal manikins and with a choking training vest – simple gestures that are truely life-saving.
….they were still smiling at the end of the day. Take a look at the photos on our facebook page.
Does your child’s teacher know all this? Would they know how to deal with a medical emergency? Can HealthFirst help by providing some tailored training in friendly, small anglophone or francophone groups?
