Hailing from the north east of England, Lizzy trained as a Registered Nurse at the University of Northumbria in Newcastle and began her career at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, specialising in surgery, breast cancer, general surgery, and plastic trauma.
In 2006, Lizzy spent three months in India working in a hospice supporting people living with HIV and AIDS. She moved to London in 2008, gaining wide-ranging experience across acute and specialist hospital settings, including cardiac medicine, neurology, dermatology, minor surgery, and high-dependency care. At the Royal London Hospital, Lizzy worked in dermatology and minor surgery, supporting biopsy procedures and patients with skin cancer. She later helped to develop the Plastic Trauma Hand Clinic and went on to become Plastic Trauma Coordinator, improving patient pathways between A&E, clinics, and surgical services.
Alongside her clinical work, Lizzy trained as a sound therapist in 2019, combining healthcare with her long-standing passion for music and a focus on accessible complementary therapy. She also worked in hospice and neurological rehabilitation settings, supporting palliative care patients and those recovering from stroke or brain injury.
Now based in Switzerland, Lizzy occasionally works as a School Nurse at Zurich International School. Outside of work, she’s a musician and performs with various bands, including her own, across the UK and Europe. She loves all forms of creativity and ‘making’, from lino prints and drawing to music and stop-motion videos, and spends as much time as possible in nature — hiking in the hills or swimming in the lake.
