Introducing Rachel Pattaroni, Office Assistant and Digital Media Coordinator at HealthFirst
When did you start working for HealthFirst and what is your role?
I joined HealthFirst in December 2023, initially to manage the training supplies needed for our First Aid and Mental Health First Aid courses. I assist our Office Manager, Barbara, with various administrative tasks. My role has evolved since to include overseeing HealthFirst’s digital platforms.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
What I love most about my job is being part of the amazing HealthFirst team – a group of kind, supportive women who create such a positive and collaborative environment. I also appreciate the variety in my role; my tasks are quite diverse!
Health has always been a topic of interest for me. After spending many years working in the public health sphere in various countries across Africa, I love that I can continue immersing myself in a related field here in Switzerland. I learn so much on the job – whether it’s through uploading Dr Michelle’s Health Matters podcasts, creating fresh, engaging health-related content for our social media channels, or preparing for exciting events like MenoPower. It’s rewarding to contribute to something so impactful.
What do you do when you are not working?
Being active and spending my time outdoors with friends and family is what I enjoy most. Whether it is skiing, running, biking or swimming, the options are endless where I live in Switzerland.
I also have two young children who keep me busy!
What is your guilty pleasure?
I am a big snacker and could easily graze all day on the rare occasion I don’t have anyone else to cook for. Chips (or crisps) are my weakness – once I start, it’s hard to stop!
What advice would you give to your younger self?
I would tell my younger self to take the time to discover what truly interests and motivates me. There’s no need to rush into a career or follow a set path – embrace the journey of exploring different options and take advantage of the opportunities around you to try new things and learn along the way.
